Shaw’s Asia manufacturing facility in Nantong, China has achieved LEED Silver status in the New Construction category. The certification is applicable to the entire facility, which includes the administrative and manufacturing space.
LEED certification is recognized globally as the premier mark of achievement in terms of green building. Building projects must satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification. The points are accrued in five green design categories: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality.
The Nantong facility opened in 2013 and it strengthens the company’s global position by providing streamlined service to customers in the Asia-Pacific market. Also, this facility is Asia’s first manufacturing facility to produce Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver carpet. The 200,00 sq. ft. plant features new machinery and the latest industry leading technology. All of the products manufactured at this facility feature the EcoWorx and EcoLogix backing.
