Armstrong Receives Good Design Award for Architectural Remnants

manufacture_35brand_490

Armstrong recently announced that the Architectural Remnants laminate flooring collection has taken top honors in the 2014 Good Design Awards. The Good Design is one of the world’s most recognized, prestigious, and oldest Design Awards program. It is organized annually by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Center for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies.
Architectural Remnants is a collection that combines multiple species and colors that look as if they have withstood years of use or if they were pulled from a historic structure. The collection is available in random widths, and the products have the look of realistic graining, texture, and depth of reclaimed wood. The laminate flooring also has a 50 year residential warranty, VisionGuard, and Hydracore Plus. VisionGuard helps protect the floor’s surface from staining, fading, and wear-through. Hydracore Plus is a solid core built into the middle of the laminate, which allows the product to feel more like hardwood.

Hot Flooring Trends: Mixed Wood Species and Reclaimed Wood

mixed wood speciesMixed wood species and reclaimed wood looks are the hottest trends in flooring right now. Unfortunately, you cannot use real hardwood flooring to create the mixed wood species look because the mixed species of wood expand in different ways. The mixed wood flooring would crack and fall apart with changes in the weather, so buying real wood to create this look would be a waste. For the reclaimed look, you could use actual reclaimed wood from a barn but the wood might be too weathered to use and last a long time or it might have installation difficulties.
I would suggest laminate flooring to create these two beautiful looks in your home. Laminate flooring is able to have the look and feel of real wood but it doesn’t have the high price. Laminate flooring is the perfect choice when you want to create a mixed wood flooring in your home. You can have the look of mixed wood species without the hassle of trying to mix the species together or post-installation issues. Woodland Reclaim from Armstrong’s Architectural Remnants collection creates a beautiful mixed wood species look.
Reclaimed wood is also a trending look right now for homes. Reclaimed wood looks are inspired by old barn wood or even old driftwood. Laminate flooring allows you to have these beautiful flooring looks in your own home without actually having to install old wood planks as flooring. The technology that we use today allows laminate flooring to look and feel almost as realistic as a real piece of wood flooring. Skip Planed/Skip Sand from Armstrong’s Architectural Remnants and the entire Coastal Living Premium collection from Armstrong have gorgeous reclaimed wood patterns.

If the mixed wood look and reclaimed wood look are not for you, then we have many other beautiful laminate flooring that would look beautiful in your home.

New Laminate from Armstrong

armstrong
Gray Washed Laminate FlooringLately laminate has been featuring three new trends, which are color variations, reclaimed wood looks, and subtle textures. These three trends influenced Armstrong to create three new looks in their laminate. Armstrong created the Global Reclaim laminate flooring, which is part of the Architectural Remnants collection. The company also added three new flooring colors in Forestry Mix and they created Millwork Block, which are in the Rustics Premium collection. Each of these new products use different planks to create a highly varied board look, and they all have a realistic texture.

Global Reclaim laminate flooring was inspired by reclaimed wood floors, and this floor will look great in a cozy cabin, a refurbished urban loft, or even a rustic cottage. Armstrong’s embossing technique is what makes the laminate flooring look so realistic. Global Reclaim has a micro edge, which provides the smooth and realistic look as well. The gloss on this laminate flooring is more matte than others, which also lends to the realism of the reclaimed wood look. Global Reclaim blends the exotic wood looks of apple wood, eucalyptus, and maple in 18 unique planks, which give you a lot of variation.

Forestry Mix laminate flooring comes in three colors, which are brown washed, gray washed, and white washed. This new product is also part of the Rustics Premium collections, and it features scraped textures and farmhouse-style wide boards. In addition, this laminate flooring looks as if it has aged naturally, and it has details such as natural knots, chatter marks, and mineral streaks. Each of the three colors has 24 planks, which will create a varied board look.

Millwork Block laminate flooring blends the old and new with patchwork and mismatched designs. Armstrong Designer Sara Babinski says that this flooring works well in contemporary and traditional settings because of its distressed appearance. The texture of this flooring was enhanced by a subtle undulating surface treatment. In addition, this flooring uses 18 unique planks with the look of premium oak strips.

Each of these new products have a 50 year warranty from Armstrong. They also have a wear layer called VisionGuard, which protects the floor from staining, fading, and wear-through. The laminate flooring has a HydraCore Plus, which is a built-in performance core that provides durability, moisture resistance, and it gives the floor a substantial feel.

Armstrong Launches New Commercial Laminate Designs and Colors

/Uploads/Public/armstrong.png
Armstrong continues to design innovative commercial laminate flooring, and they have created many new designs and colors for 2014. Armstrong’s new products provide a solution for the most popular trends in the present commercial interiors. The current design trends include wood looks, featuring mismatched aesthetics that offer a sophisticated modern twist. Other popular trends are interior motifs that blend the old with the new, or vintage and contemporary, and they have a sense of history in the style. Armstrong also allows its customers a variety so they can create designs with a high number of unique planks, mixed species, multiple widths and lengths, and surface texturing to create additional realism.
Both of these trends with textural and reclaimed hardwood looks, inspired the new Armstrong collections of designs and colors. Within the Architectural Remnants collection, the Woodland Reclaim has two new stylish colors, which are old original wood brown and old original barn gray. Woodland Reclaim has the look of nine reclaimed hardwoods, which are birch, red oak, sycamore, pine, teak, elm, ask, white oak, and hickory. The product is available in sixteen unique planks and three different widths.
Global Reclaim, which is also a stunning new design in the Architectural Remnants collection, blends reclaimed exotic wood looks such as apple wood, eucalyptus, and maple. The Global Reclaim also eighteen unique planks with dusty blush tones, and the new design will create an elegant look for any upscale retail environment.

Within the Rustics Collection, the new Reclaimed American Chestnut in the color sepia brown provides a new look to one of America’s most well-known rare and reclaimed Northern hardwoods, chestnut. Chestnut is beautifully enhanced with natural knots and mineral streaks in the Rustics Collection. The new design, Forestry Mix, has a harmonious blend of hickory, white oak, and red oak. Forestry Mix has three colors, which are white washed, gray washed, and brown washed.  Each colors has twenty-four different planks that display the varied stain characteristics of each species, which creates a beautiful fit for all commercial uses at a great price. Millwork Block gives the collection a distinct look of premium oak strips, and they are assembled into planks, glazed with stain, and enhanced by a subtle undulating surface treatment in eighteen different planks.
Armstrong has a great laminate solution that gives customers the realism and performance that is required for commercial spaces.
