The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) serves as the purchasing arm for the U.S. government. Broadloom carpet and carpet tile purchased by the government must meet the Gold Level certification requirements of the NSF/ANSI 140 standard as part of the GSA’s overall Sustainable Acquisition Goals. GSA requires that all flooring options purchased through the agency must meet sustainability requirements.
Approved Types of Flooring
The GSA approves other types of flooring as well such as carpet padding, luxury vinyl tile, and sheet vinyl. The flooring options available are under the Schedule 72 – Furnishings and Floor Coverings on the U.S. General Services Administration website. We sell many GSA approved products from companies such as Shaw, Mohawk, Interface, Mannington, and other manufacturers.
What is the GREENGUARD Certification?
GREENGUARD Certification shows that a product has met some of the world’s most rigorous standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into indoor air.
Consumers and builders demand safer, healthier products. The GREENGUARD Certification provides consumers and builders with solutions and resources to identify which products have lower chemical emissions. In addition, this certification provides manufacturers with tools to legitimize and promote their sustainability efforts.
Indoor air quality (IAQ) is part of everyone’s health and it is an important concern in homes, schools, healthcare environments, and commercial spaces. Volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from building materials and furnishings are a major source of indoor air pollution. This certification has been in use for many years as the trusted standard for low-emitting products. More than 400 green building codes, standards, guidelines, and rating systems give credit for GREENGUARD certified products.
Soft Natural Fibers in the Caress Collection
The Shaw Caress collection is unique in two ways: color and softness. This collection features Shaw’s most creative colors, and the colors draw inspiration from the Mediterranean, the Amalfi Coast, and the Western Painted Desert. Shaw created 50 classic colors for this collection, and they range from neutrals, blues, greens, grays, and browns.
Also, the carpet in the Shaw Caress collection has a soft feeling underfoot. The fiber used for these carpets is Shaw’s Anso nylon fiber. The fiber features the R2X Stain, Soil, and Odor resistance system. In addition, the carpets are backed by Anso nylon’s lifetime stain and soil warranty as well as the lifetime pet warranty.
